ONE-OF-A-KIND · HAND-PAINTED ORIGINAL
This paper-pulp horse explores Vietnamese cultural heritage through a contemporary and expressive palette. The contrast of black, blue and copper gives the work a distinctive presence, while its deliberately irregular form retains the human character of handcraft.
Giang Paper Pulp & Handcrafted Lacquer Surface
The sculpture is made from Giang paper pulp, a traditional material associated with the H’mông community in Hòa Bình. The pulp is blended with fine clay to form the body, then shaped, surface-prepared, lacquer-ground, painted in layers and repeatedly sanded by hand.
The repeated finishing process builds a tactile surface with depth and tonal variation, making the sculpture visually individual.
The Beauty of Imperfection
The form intentionally moves away from perfect symmetry and standardised proportions. Its irregularities are deliberate, reflecting the idea that beauty can emerge from what is unfinished, asymmetrical and human.
One-of-a-Kind
Each sculpture is individually shaped and hand-painted. There is no second piece identical to this work. The combination of hand-built form, layered colour and manual finishing makes this a unique collectible art object.
