ONE-OF-A-KIND · HAND-PAINTED ORIGINAL

This paper-pulp horse draws from Vietnamese cultural heritage while using a contemporary palette and deliberately imperfect form. Its playful character and hand-rendered details make it an expressive art object for modern interiors.

Traditional Material, Contemporary Expression

The sculpture uses Giang paper pulp, a traditional material associated with the H’mông community in Hòa Bình. Giang bamboo is processed into fibres and dried to create the pulp traditionally used for handmade paper.

The pulp is mixed with fine clay and shaped by hand before undergoing surface preparation, lacquer-ground treatment, layered painting and repeated sanding. These processes create a tactile surface and depth of colour.

The Beauty of Imperfection

The horse intentionally avoids rigid symmetry and idealised proportions. Its small irregularities are part of the work’s identity.

One-of-a-Kind

Each sculpture is individually shaped and hand-painted. There is no second piece identical to this work. Every detail is developed by hand, making this a unique collectible art object.
